Mohanlal Viswanathan Nair known as Mohanlal, is an Indian film actor, preoducer and playback singer, who mainly works in Malayalam Cinema.

 Mohanlal was made his acting debut with the film Thiranottam (1978) but the film was delayed in its release for 25 years due to its censorship issues and his on-screen debut & first box office successful film Manjil Virinja Pookkal (1980), in which he played the villain role. He has received twice National Film Award, Special Jury Awards, Many Filmfare Awards with nominations for best actor performance. In addition to Malayalam, he has also appeared in other regional Indian films.

Mohanlal was born on 21 May, 1960 in Elanthoor, Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India. His father Viswanathan Nair is an advocate and his mother Santhakumari Nair. He had an elder brother named Pyare Lal, he was died. He studied at Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Thiruvananthapuram. He has completed Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from Mahatma Gandhi, College, Thiruvananthapuram, India. Mohanlal married to Suchithra Balaji in 1988 and the couple have one son Pranav and  one daughter Vismay.

Mohanlal works in many films viz.  Iruvar, Company, Midhunam, No. 20 Madras Mail, Kilukkam, Bharatham, Janatha Garage, Puli Murgan, Villain, etc.
